Collection: Scott Turri

Hailing from suburban Philadelphia, where he spent his formative years, Turri now calls Pittsburgh home. His relationship with the computer as a tool for art-making began with trepidation. Having come from a background of expressive painting, the idea of using a computer was somehow antithetical to his being. But gradually, over the years, this changed. Primarily self-taught, Turri considers himself a slow learner. Initially, he experimented with the program Paint and eventually graduated to using Flash, and now consistently uses Photoshop and Adobe Animate to design his paintings and animations. Along with his art-making habit, he is also a self-taught drummer and has written for New Art Examiner, BOMB Magazine, and Afterimage. Turri also holds a full-time lecturer position in the Studio Arts Department at the University of Pittsburgh.
