We partnered with a custom skateboard manufacturer in Nevada to create these functional pieces of art and they turned out beautifully. The designs are printed directly onto the 7 ply wooden decks. 

All of the images seen in this skate deck are from my original art… screen prints, relief prints and block prints of my drawings and paintings, torn, combined and reorganized to these skate deck designs. The process is largely inspired by the wonderful art of Robert Rauschenberg, Mimo Rotella, and Jaques Villeglé.

I think Skateboarding is the most sophisticated sport on earth. I never really got the hang of it though. My brother Idris was a very good skateboarder when he was young. He and his friends built a halfpipe in our backyard, so I was able to mess around on it whenever I wanted and often did. I learned to drop in and go back and forth but that was the extent of it.
